Weekend Perusing: What I'm reading lately
Discovered Art
Basic Tools 1 by photographer Andrew Gillis is available for $500 as a 15X19.
This weekend I wanted to focus on some of the blogs that I frequently read that I may not have pointed you to in the past for one reason or another. Sure, there are tons of “must read” photography blogs found on lists but many leave out some really great blogs written by really great photographers. Here are a few of my latest favorite blogs about photography. This isn’t a comprehensive list, it’s more of a chance to give a nod to some lesser known, but not lesser talented folks working it day in and day out.
Have I pointed you over to Wonderful Machine Blog? Where else would you get to see C-3P0 and Danica Patrick in the same blog post? Love that blog. Great place to find wonderful photographers.
Sometimes we need a little reminder about why we hold photography, art, life, family, or whatever close to our hearts. That’s why I read the traveling tribe blog. Oh, and you should too.
Sometimes I do miss shooting weddings. The whole “bad back” issue doesn’t really seem to be getting any better so, for now, I’ll have to live vicariously through Amelia Lyon and the wonderfully fresh perspective they have on their wedding photography.
Speaking of great wedding photography; Chris and Adrienne are a husband and wife team working their magic on weddings and portraits in Tennessee. I’m loving the way the work together to produce great photography and wonderful blog that keeps their customers and clients informed and wanting more.
Jan Shim loves to share the work he’s doing as well as his other thoughts. I love to read them over at Shimworld. Some of the best food photography sure to make you quit your diet. Darn him!
Have you ever wondered what it would be like to be an online photography student? Well all you have to do is subscribe and follow along to Online Student of Photography as written by Mr. Muskrat (a fellow Texan) who is chronicling his experiences while attending an online school for photography. Good stuff.
Love nature? Then you gotta love Alaska. Then you’ll also love Alaska Photography for the great photography and the great tutorials.
Want more nature? Then how about heading over to Mountain Photographer for great scenic photos by Jack Brauer. You’ll want to take along a virtual oxygen mask to complete the journey.
Open Eye Photography is one of those great places to stop on in for inspiration. Wonderful images and photography found from around the great Interwebs.
For more inspirational photography head over to Film is not dead it just smells funny and you’ll find some truly fantastic work done by, you guessed it, film photographers.
So there ya go. Ten wonderful blogs by wonderful photographers. Now enjoy these great photographs by our awesome readers.
