I’m sensing a theme here. I’ve had aspirations of moving to New York lately and this stuff isn’t really helping at all.

Image editing software like Adobe’s Lightroom isn’t just about editing your work or throwing your images in folders. It’s about making your life easier and getting work done faster. Smart Collections does exactly that.

If you still have yet to get your feet wet in Photoshop here’s a great tutorial for beginners. It’s simple but highly relevant.

50/50 seems excessive to me. I would argue a good photographer it's more like 80% camera/20% software. Sure you use software to "get the image you want" but if you're starting from crap you have a lot of work ahead of you... which I guess would make the 50/50 more of a reality. I am probably like 98/2 and that 2% is in DPP adjusting white balance and maybe lens distortion although I don't rely on that as much with new lens. Although I'm also not going out on photo shoots for 10s of thousands of dollars.

Still haven't messed with lightroom all that much (I use picasa since I just can't justify the $300 or whatever for lightroom, although people seem to really like it)
