What's YOUR Most Useful Piece of Photographic Equipment?
We all have our favorite pieces of camera gear. Maybe it’s your 50mm 1.4 lens or your newest gorilla pod.
But sometimes, I think, we don’t give enough credit to our most useful pieces of gear. The one thing in your camera bag, studio, or digital workflow that you just can’t live without.
For some, this may be a camera strap, others it may be the actual bag they use, while still others it may be a set of actions they use to faster process their digital images.
These useful parts of our photographic lives don’t get enough credit in the photoblogosphere. So let’s give them the credit they deserve.
In this open discussion I want YOU to share your most USEFUL piece of photographic equipment and tell us why you, as a photographer, simply can’t live without it! Use the comments section below.

Tripod. Large format would be almost impossible to shoot without it.
Yep. Tripods definitely fall under the useful category.
Domke F2 bag with custom-made hip strap and Domke shoulder pad. I think I'm on my 4th or 5th one now.
I absolutely love my Black Rapid camera strap. And I mean LOVE. With all the storage, it's eliminated my need for a camera bag 95% of the time, no more back aches, and no more accidentally banging small children in the head! http://www.blackrapid.com
That's dedication to a product!
Funny you mention the Black Rapid camera strap; I worked as a second shooter this weekend strictly for the purposes of reviewing that strap which I'll have ready tomorrow. It was working on that review that brought this discussion to mind.
48 countries so far with them. :-)
Ahh.. well I look forward to reading your thoughts on it then! My only wish is that there was a compartment large enough for an iPhone!
The BlackRapid camera strap for women RS-W1 is hands down my favorite piece of camera gear: http://bit.ly/djOP3i
Does Photoshop count?
If you want Photoshop to count I can't argue over it's usefulness to you as a photographer.
Perhaps, more specifically, is there some particular thing/tool/action in Photoshop that makes your digital workflow even more useful?
Oh. My. Lands. Just when I didn't think life with a black rapid could get better. Trendy AND feminine all rolled into one golden nugget of goodness. (fist pump) YESSS!!!
Oh yes, Photo Sister unite!
For me it is the Lowepro Computrekker Plus AW backpack and my Sun-Sniper strap. http://www.sun-sniper.de/?L=1&id=sun_sniper_strap0
My Canon F2.8 24 to 70mm lense is the most usable range when coupled with a 1.4 or 2.0 extender.
On a full frame or crop sensor camera?
I'm curious about the actual range.
If there was anything... I'd have to say my memory card. If I didn't have those little 16GB & 8 GB wonders... I couldn't do anything.
My eyes. Without them, where would I be. They need to be clean, focused, wide angle, telephoto, short exposure, long exposure even high ISO. Camera's change, format's change, media changes...eyes?
