Why we should support the Arts
As photographers, we need to stand up to protect the arts from slashed government funding. Photography is an Art that will be cut if certain people in Washington get their way!
The arts are critical to every country. The United States needs to show the rest of the world that we are leaders in the arts. The arts including photography are what gives us our cultural identity and it provides a way for us to see ourselves as we are. It is about our spirit and our culture. As a form of communication, art is as important internationally as is any other language. It is our voice that is spoken. It tells the world who we are as a nation and as a people. Art is a high form of education and language. The arts help us to understand ourselves. Art shows us what is important. The arts effect people for the better good of all! If you love the arts, you are a lover of life and a lover of peace and freedom. WE THE PEOPLE are the subject of our arts!
Without the arts we are nothing!
Academy Award winner Kevin Spacey speaks about why we need the arts in this country. His insight makes perfect sense.
