Wisconsin Capitol Staffer Assaults Photographer

A man who apparently works as a photographer in the Wisconsin State Capitol in Madison grabbed another man’s video camera after a heated political discussion.

The staffer, whose name is not known at this time, did not return the camera until the other man threatened to call police. The staffer then disappeared into the senate chambers where citizens are not allowed.

The victim, who goes by arthurkr222, uploaded the video on Tuesday. He started arguing with the staffer while he was videotaping Dan Kapanke, a republican state senator who is in the process of being recalled.

Arthurkr222 said he reported the incident to capitol police but they did nothing about it.

Where's Wisoncosin? Anywhere near Wisconsin?

Yes i am from Wisconsin and we are located between Florida and Vermont

The staffer shouldn't have grabbed that kids camera just because he couldn't debate him.
Some states have state ID's for people that do not drive. Does Wisconsin have this? If there is no other ID the kid could get other than a drivers license then the law IS unfair, if he could get a state ID then he is a whiny, lazy little bitch. As for non resident students, if they want to go to school there for four years and not bother applying for residency, then no, they should not be allowed to vote in Wisconsin.

Yes Wisconsin has this, but maybe the poor college student doesnt have any money to buy one and im sure he wouldnt appreciate being called a "whiny, lazy little bitch" from some whiny little bitch at his computer either

Regardless of the topic of the argument, the staffer should have shown more class than to drop F-bombs, call people idiots, and grab the camera. He was being a dick, pure and simple.

"Use a fucking driver's license, stupid"

Yeah, that staffer's got all kinds of class.

Too bad the kid didn't resist the staffer robbing him, though.

The staffer shouldn't have grabbed the personal property, but being an obnoxious loud mouth hipster wasn't helping either.

The ability to say what you want regardless if it is unpopular or offensive is a fundamental right.

a large part of the problem is this: like 88% or so of the public hasnt a clue as to the concept of what your talking about, and its sad that its so many. if i am off, dont think its by much!
"sheeple" i call them.

did they have to hire this retard for some political reason? asshole sums this guy up, looks like a tard even when he was growing up, thing is he is still growing up. he states the guy should get a job, he needs to get a life!

The guy was being a world class jerk, not to mention rude, crude, and offensive. He obviously shows what kind of person he really is, one that can not control his emotions in the face of someone who disagrees with him, someone who has limited intellectual ability and can not articulate even a simple argument to defend his viewpoint. But alas, being a jerk, and being stupid are not crimes. But when he grabbed the camera and refused to return it he committed battery, and theft, and IMHO should have been criminally charged.

So, if I was his employer I would not want him in my employ based strictly on his behavior before he grabbed the camera. But, once he grabbed the camera and refused to return it thus committing a crime, he would be gone, gone, gone...

That would be Jay Salvo who is the photographer for Legislative Republicans.

This incident aside, with everything that has happened and is happening in Wisconsin right now, especially in the Capitol, police officers have been remarkably wee-trained in respecting the right to photography. I have yet to come across one incident of someone being asked to stop taking pictures or video. And I have seen video of some tense incidents, including people being arrested and ticketed.
