Notes to Myself — For Photography and Living — John Neel
Some Thoughts on Photography, Light and Seeing
“It’s easy to go someplace that is foreign where we see things that are new to us, but if we just pause and look all around us we can find things in our everyday existence that are truly beautiful. We begin to see the familiar, in an entirely new way. We learn to have a new appreciation for our environment and for our place within it. We become more connected.”
"You need to look up and you need to look down. Everything is connected to everything else. The tree cannot grow without the ground. The birds do not fly without the air. We do not see without the light."
"Practice taking photographs even when you do not have a camera."
"Photography is about LIGHT."
"Look at the small things. Look at the big things. Realize that you too are small."
"Use your heart to see."
"Take nothing for granted."

"Photography is about life and death."
"Photography is about good and evil."
