SLT A 33 vs. SLT A 55
Created on December 5, 2010 @ 11:20PM
Hi, Peter. I very much like the color and tone of the photos you took with the A55. Is there are discernable difference in the depth, color, etc. between the two sensors, or put a different way what will I be loosing if I buy the A33 to save a couple of bucks. Also, do you like the kit zoom better than the pancake type lens? Best regards. Thanks

Hi Steve, I did not do any side-by-side testing with the two cameras but based on all the tech info, there's no difference in the look of images taken with an a55 or a33. The processing parameters are the same.
Naturally -- as with any camera -- the picture style that you set (such as Vivid) will produce different results than the default picture style.
Also, a Circular Polarizing filter can help enrich colors (with any camera) by wiping glare from reflective surfaces to allow the true colors to be revealed.
The pancake lens is superior optically but not as versatile as a zoom lens since you can vary the focal length without changing lenses.
With ANY DSLR however, the inexpensive kit lens is intended for getting started. Better image quality is possible with one of the more expensive zoom lenses that you might buy later.
Cheers!
Peter
