Hey C36. While you and I disagreed on the numbers involved here, we've taken a few of your comments to heart.

We're trying to raise $10,000 for Red Cross now. That's a big chunk of change.

It would be the "end of story" if you were right.

First of all, you're incorrect on the unit cost.

First, businesses aren't required to donate anything to anyone, so the fact that we're donating a portion of a product's revenue is greater than many businesses are doing.

Great article, as always Haje

I have a Zeiss Planar 50 1.4 in the test kit and in every instance I prefer the images that come from the Sigma 50mm, so these tests aren't really very surprising to me.

Commented on A Lack of Soul?

I think John is hitting on the main issue with the assertion that digital is killing the soul of photography.

Prior to digital in order to see a photo it was necessary to look at a printed example

I don't disagree with you at all on this point Matthew. I think that there's definitely a place for film. I love things like the Holga and Lomos, and I do like that students want to learn film.

Thank you, Jeff, for providing the example of the sort of asinine commentary that is so often promoted by film lovers.

I think it's fair to add the following:

John is NOT the model of the film fanatic.

Sorry John, wasn't trying to single you out here. This is something I see in many venues, not the conversation we're having in the comments. The comments brought up the fact that I see that a lot.
