About Me
Steve Meltzer is a writer and photographer with over thirty year's experience working as a photojournalist. His photos and feature stories have appeared in newspapers and magazines such as USA Today, The New York Times, Sports Illustrated,The Seattle Times, The Sarasota Herald Tribune, GEO, House and Home, Professional Artist, The Crafts Report, and Home and Garden. Steve's commercial clients have included Boeing, Microsoft, Delos Records, QWest, Bank of America, Wright-Runstad Construction, The City of Seattle, The City of Sarasota., the Seattle Symphony, The Florida West Caost Symphony and Miami's New World Symphony.
In addition to his magazine and newspaper work, Steve photographs craftwork and art and is the author of the best selling "Photographing Arts, Crafts & Collectibles" (PIXIQ Books, 2007) the complete guide to the digital photography for artists, craftspeople, collectors and photographers. He followed PACC with, "Capture The Light" (PIXIQ Books, 2008), a guide to using and understanding light for digital photographers. Both of these books are oddly enough illustrated with lots of Steve's photos. The are available at bookstores and photography shops everywhere, as well as the usual online sources.
Steve studied photography at NYU and CCNY, with photographers like Cornell Capa, Duane Michaels, Marc Rimbuad and Oliver Gagliani. He has had exhibitions of his photographs in museums and galleries across the U.S.and in 2003 at Festival Off/Visa-For-the-Image in Perpignan, France. In 1977, he created "West Stock" a stock photo agency in Seattle which was one of the first agences to sell digital images on CD-ROMs--in association with the PhotoDisc company--and it was one of the first stock agencies to sell photos directly online (Muse).
Steve and his wife Diane live near the Renaissance era town of Pezenas, on a 500 year old village house from which Steve writes an online magazine, Le Sud de France about the life and times of the people in the Herault region of France. You can read it at http/stevefotos.blogspot.com/
